Bad Press

As a fervent supporter of good nutrition science, we are often dismayed at reports in the popular press that are confusing, misguided, or just flat out wrong. Here we respond to the worst of what we see published.

  • Nov. 12, 2013: Business Insider, 9 Lies About Fat That Destroyed The World’s Health, by Kris Gunnars
  • Nov. 30, 2013: Pasadena Star News, Just What the Doctor Ordered, by Suzanne Sproul and Joe Segura, about hospital food that is healthful but not bland.
  • Oct. 22, 2013: L.A. Times, Time to end the war against saturated fat?, by Melissa Healy, quoting from the October 2013 British Medical Journal article Saturated fat is not the major issue by Aseem Malhotra.
  • Sept. 2013: Scientific American, What Makes You Fat: Too Many Calories, or the Wrong Carbohydrates?, by Gary Taubes
  • Aug. 2013: Popular Science, Could This Liquid Replace Food?, by Caleb Hannan
